the best thoughts

never come to me while writing. they always come to me at any other time EXCEPT for when i'm physically writing. my best thoughts/ideas come to me when i'm too occupied with other things. when i'm stuck having a deep conversation with someone, when i'm ordering food (lol), when i'm doing things away from a piece of paper & pen. so i write them in my head. repeat them over and over out loud and under my breath, in a tragic attempt to memorize. and those thoughts are my best thoughts...and they are also fleeting thoughts. they show their face once in a crowd and it's like you're having deja vu only to have 'em disappear into the mass. so the fragments of those great thoughts are the sediments that i work with, write down with a sense of shame and defeat for having let the rest get away so swiftly. that is perhaps why everything i write feels so...incomplete.
