Being married, with a child and still living at home with my parents wasn't what I had in mind when I used to dream about having my own family one day. I would let a lot of people's negative opinions on that get to me a little. And definitely felt like the "failure to launch" and "too spoiled" type. But as times change, my parents have always relied on me to do everything they couldn't do/understand. I really don't mind that I handle all of their finances, mortgage, insurances and make sure all of their hard earned coints goes into everything they want/need. It's not that they are incapable, but they are getting old which is making it more and more difficult to keep up with everything. Today my parents thanked us for everything we do. The most heart-felt thank you I have ever heard from them. I was caught off-gaurd by it because I really don't think we do much, we just try and stay out of their way as much as possible. Jun and I do our best to never become a burden. After we got married, parents told us they didn't want us to pay rent or bills. Only to take care of our own family and make it grow. As much as I appreciated that, it didn't feel right to me. It's already too much that we get help from them by staying in their house. We decided to help by paying for a few bills, while paying our own, I cook and clean everyday so they don't have to worry about that. Jun takes out the trash, helps with groceries, helps me cook sometimes. My dad can't stand when we do anything in the house because he feels like there is never anything for him to do haha. So he takes care of outside since he loves being outside lol. But that's how I want it to be for them. They already work so hard, I don't want them to worry about anything else. And it makes it super easy to do things like that since we are living with them. Plus I see how much joy our son brings them, purely because he just loves to make them laugh. We've never had any drama or hopefully haven't been annoying. But my parents thanking us, just confirms how much we're appreciated being around. I know this isn't going to last forever. We are saving as much as we can right now, and getting our shit together this year by paying off debt as well. 2017 is definitely a year to be patient and to live happy... with less ;) meanwhile we will definitely cherish these times where my baby gets to spend days closer to his grandparents. Something I had always wished for. He's already living that good life. They are so good to us, we are so blessed.
Last Sunday, my sister-in-law spoke to the congregation about her experiences with her journey to the temple for Stake conference. I'm so happy that I made it in time to hear her speak. Her speech definitely pulled at the heart-strings, every woman from my view shed a few tears. And even though the bestie-in- law told me a few of her struggles, there were other things I had no idea about. And I'm proud that she had the courage to share those struggles. It definitely made me feel like I needed to get on that glorious path to the temple. The way we are living now, although happy and pretty content... I know the greatest part of our story lies within his eternal plan. Our life on earth is so uncertain, I don't want to miss the opportunity to be sealed with my family because of worldly things. I plan on making changes towards that.
