my mom got off work early so i decided to go run some errands with her. my plan to go grocery shopping early was going well until i was reaching for some juice only to have the one next to it tip, fall and splatter on the floor. i know those employees knew it was me. i just smiled at the check out and was on my way. those shelves are not short people friendly. i'm not short, but what if i was? can you imagine all the juices that would have tipped before i came along? they need to fix that or have somebody on stand by incase a midget needs help.
anyway, afterwards i needed to make a quick stop at my bank, but my mom was running late for some emergency business meeting. i told her to leave me there and go to her meeting since the bank is only like, three or four blocks away from my house. i also needed to go across the street and pay my phone bill... convenient right? heck yeah! so my mom asks if i'm sure to walk home and i'm like, "mom, i'll be fine! you go ahead, i like walking, remember?" and off she goes. so after i have a quick chit chat with my teller about some stuff with my account and he cracks a few corny jokes and offers me some lolly's which i stuff into my bag. i finally leave to pay my phone bill. as i'm walking out of the bank it starts to lightly drizzle so i start running across the street, a few cars here and there. i get inside the store and like always, without fail is vicky standing behind a glass case filled with glitzy phone cases. she's been a long time friend to my mom after dating my "good for nothing" cousin who dumped her for some loser ditz bartender. she's very curvy, with round cheeks that seem to be forever dewy and pink. she has curly blondeish brown hair that she lets loose all the way down to her waist. she's pretty though and very softspoken which is nice. anyhow, as usual vicky and i exchange hello's and then she starts telling me about the latest updates on her love life, while i dig through my bag for my card. a roar of thunder sounds and she stops for a moment and looks outside, i stop too and follow her gaze to the window and the rain is pouring now. "goodness are you walking home in this weather pumpkin?", i blinked at her a few times as if her question seemed silly, "UH yeah... I am". i finally find my card and hand it to her. she rang me up and then signed off my receipt. just then her phone rang and i was so glad it did, else i'd be sitting in her car feeling guilty that she had to close up early just so she can take me down 3 or 4 blocks. i quickly tucked my phone into the little front pocket of my bag and made my way out. she tried to tell me to wait but i was already halfway out the door, "bye vicky! come and visit us sometime..." pheeew. i start speed walking through the parking lot past some african hair salon where everybody inside was getting their hair done was looking at me like i was crazy. PSH. they are crazy for getting perms or whatever it was they were doing.
then i realized that human beings are afraid of the rain. or getting wet and spoiling their appearance. as i started getting soaked, it started to feel nice. rain drops lightly hitting my face, it was sweet and dandy until some redneck trucker thought it'd be completely funny to drive on a puddle next to me thus causing me to be completely soaked... seriously? my almost walking to skipping turned into moping. he got water all over my headphones which were on my side and i thought they broke so i almost started crying. then fixing them so things were okay. and then almost tripping on the sidewalk but managing to catch my balance before fatality struck. so after that, every car i saw passing me by i started muttering, "what would jesus do" under my breath. and as expected everybody joyfully passed me by! haha. just as i started to enjoy my walk again, a car pulled up behind me. it was black, i don't know what model it was. but it was decent looking, almost brand new. windows were tinted so i couldn't see who was inside and as if the driver read my thoughts or just my tightly squinted eyes as i was struggling to see if i knew them, rolled down the window. it was an unfamiliar guy, he looked about mid 20's but i couldn't care less becos he was handsome and attractive. tan skin, white teeth, brown eyes with wavy wild golden hair. it was as if the sun was shining out of his body, i mean skin LOL. anyway, he asked if he could give me a ride. and even though my hair was natural and not in a good way, and i was soaked from head to toe like i had been swimming, and a tad bit miserable... i kindly declined his offer. plus my house was just one block away now and i didn't feel like messing up his ride by getting my wet self everywhere. i didn't wait for him to speak becos i swiftly started walking toward the road to my house when i heard his car engine go off and his car door slam shut. i stopped, turned and saw him standing a good foot away from me. "if i can't give you a ride, at least let me walk you home?" i stared at him like the the women stared at me from the salon. "what if i lived super far? you can't just leave your car here..." then i walked off. "i'll be fine", i called over my shoulder. "i'm almost..." i didn't get to say home when he started walking next to me...
**aww shucks, I gotta go! to be continued....
