mannerisms

last card from my nan <3
i miss my grandmother. i am extremely grateful for the way she brought my sisters and i up. there was a time when my mom had to pull 3 jobs just to support us, being single at the time... and my grandmother stepped in for a bit. during that time she instilled within us proper etiquette and manners. my mom would let us do whatever we wanted. but my grandmother would give us the death glare if we ever dared step in front someone without saying "excuse me". she taught us the difference between acceptable behavior and acting un-lady like. everything we did was a representation of her, my mother and my great-grandmother she used to say. so she made sure that if we effed up, we were taught a lesson. my grandmother wasn't really the disciplinarian type though. she always made sure that the punishment given was of something that we could enjoy but at the same time learn from. it's made me into the person that i am and has given me opportunities i may have never had. i'm pretty old school when it comes to common courtesy. to me it should be natural, but also taught. there's nothing more disgusting to me than a rude, inconsiderate person. be considerate and use common sense.
